to to use as a fax for a home/work office? my computer has a internal fax to
receive, and I would scan to send. Or should I buy a combo scanner/fax/
printer?

had bought a Paper Port One Touch 5300 scanner about 2 months ago. I
installed the software for it and tried to use it but only a black image
would come up. I had emailed the company on how to fix it but there ideas
didn't work. I had checked for what the LPT1 port was configured for and it
was for my Epson Stylus Colour 740 printer...which is connected to my scanner
and then from the scanner into the computer.
Does my scanner not work because of this or is it because there is something
wrong with the scanner itself?

As a result of inserting the wrong transformer lead into my ScanMagic 1200 USB scanner, there was a loud pop, followed by whisps of smoke emanating from the socket. What damage have I done, and is it reparable at a reasonable cost?

I recently reformatted my hard drive and do not seem to be able to reinstall my HP Scanjet 2100C (Precision LTX) Scanner.
The software seems to load as before but when I try to start the scanner I get the error message "Sorry, scanner could not be initialized. (Scanner not found)"
All the usb and power cables are secure. The only things I have notice that are different are 1. There is no "yellow ?" in the Device Manager drop down menu and 2. In "My Computer" there used to be an annoying icon for a scanner that wasn't the one in question (I think).
Can anyone help.
