You may find
this application handy for changes in the registry.
RegEditX (Registry Editor Extensions) is freeware that enhances the Windows
Registry Editor. If you edit the same keys repeatedly, this is for you!
New buttons activate frequently
used commands, and a combo box stores a history of visited keys and allows quick
navigation back to them.
The keys are saved across sessions
and available the next time you use the Registry Editor.
The program you need is called Batch 98 and is located on the Windows 98 CD
(CD:\tools\reskit\batch),
you will have to acquire this file for the process and it allows you to specify
parameters for the installation of windows ME ie name, time zone, keyboard
layout, options which setup usually asks you during the install process.
Once run it will produce a text file. Save it as msbatch.inf and placed in the
same folder as the setup files,
Windows ME will run it
automatically. Follow the next steps to configure.
Copy the WIN9X folder from your Windows CD to the Hard Drive
Now browse to the \tools\reskit\batch folder on the Win98 CD
Double click on the Setup.exe file
Choose the "Gather now" option.
Once complete save the file as msbatch.inf in your win9x folder that you copied
to the hard drive
Now burn the Win98 folder onto a CD, in future install windows from this it will
install all your own preferences automatically.

This is no longer supported, as ME does not run
on MSDOS no more, so to create a bootable disk you have to go into Add/remove
Programs and create it from there. Remember your ME CD is also bootable media.
Media Player 7 is not removable in
windows ME, although in Add/remove programs, media player is listed, this only
relates to Media Player 1.0, which can be removed.

to it just right click on a file, open Compressed folder and paste.
Select “Restore my computer to earlier time” and click next
This step to choose
a restore point in the process presents the user with a calendar interface to
help select the desired restore point. Days in which restore points were created
are presented in bold. Select Date and hit next.
You will get the normal warning click “OK” and then hit “NEXT”
The progress
indicator completes and the computer is restarted with the new configuration.
There is no cancel button to interrupt the process at this stage.
If the computer loses power or is restarted, the restore will be reverted when
Windows starts next – that is, the system will be set back to the state from
just before the restore attempt was made.
Note: The first step in the restoration is the creation of a new restore point.
This enables you to undo the restoration if needed.
Revert System Restore Using the Boot Disk
If the system becomes no
bootable, and the last action taken was restoring an old restore point, boot
using an Emergency Boot Disk (EBD) and System Restore provides the following
message.
System Restore
detects that a restore was the last operation completed. It is recommended you
now revert the changes to your system made by System Restore and restart before
you proceed. If you choose not to revert these changes, this option will no
longer be available.
1. Revert the Restore changes made to my system.
2. Do not revert the Restore changes made to my system.
Enter a choice:
If you select the first option, System Restore reverts to the state prior to the
restore operation and then prompts you to restart the computer.
System Restore reverted the changes made by the last restore operation.
Remove disks from the floppy disk drives and press CTRL+ALT+DELETE to restart
your computer.
Important If you select the second option,
System Restore does not revert to the previous state, and this option is not
available the next time the machine is booted from the EBD.
